Kayla Schneider

Miss Lancaster County

Hello!  My name is Kayla Marie Schneider.  I'm honored to be crowned Miss Lancaster County 2016.

I am also a survivor and advocate for children.  My platform is "Darkness to Light:  Promoting Awareness and Empowering Child Sexual Abuse Survivors."  This cause is important to me since I, like 1 in 10 children in the United States, was sexually abused before my eighteenth birthday.  I believe education and awareness are key to stopping child abuse of any kind.  Breaking the silence, shining light, and encouraging communities to talk about abuse will help prevent it. Together, we can make a difference.

I look forward to my year of service promoting my hometown of Lancaster County, my personal platform, and the Miss America Organization's initiatives to raise awareness and monies for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.  Also, I look forward to attending college in the Fall at Lock Haven University.  I’m excited to attend college to become a certified physician assistant in the field of pediatrics.

It will be a fun year!  Please connect with me if I can help your school, group or organization.

Tiffany Shrom

Miss Red Rose City

Tiffany is currently a senior at Solanco High School (class of 2016) located in East Drumore Township Quarryville, PA.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Future Business Leaders of America.

Tiffany has been dancing at her mother’s dance studio since she was 2 ½ years old, and presently teaches beginner classes there as well.  She is currently enrolled in advanced level classes and studies a variety of dance styles including, ballet, jazz, tap, pointe, hip hop and contemporary.  During Tiffany’s junior and senior year she served as dance captain and featured dancer in Solanco high school musical productions of Peter Pan and The Pajama Game. She currently serves as dance captain for Debbie’s School of Dance senior competition team, and coaches the junior dance company. Tiffany has been accepted at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA, where she plans to pursue a major in business and minor in dance.

This is Tiffany’s first year participating in the Miss America pageant programs. She chose breast cancer awareness as her platform because her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 32. Tiffany wants everyone to know that self-breast exams are nothing to be embarrassed about. She hopes to promote, remind, and rekindle the message of breast cancer awareness through this opportunity. She plans to continue to serve others impacted by her platform through personal interactions and visitations as opportunities arise. She especially looks forward to being able to express the story and message though her love for dance.

The Miss America Organization has been a great experience and very rewarding.  Given this opportunity to learn and grow while serving others, Tiffany is looking forward to more challenging adventures, meeting new people, making new friends, and having positive impact where she can.

Kayla Hostetter

Miss Lancaster County's Outstanding Teen

Hi There Lancaster County! I am Kayla Hostetter and I am so excited to be your 2016 Miss Lancaster's Outstanding Teen! This was my first time competing under the Miss America organization and I could not be anymore thrilled to have been awarded my first title in my hometown.

I grew up as a competitive gymnast, training for long hours and essentially living in the gym - because of this - I have been home schooled all of my life through PA Cyber School. After many years of intense training and sacrificing so much for the sport, I realized the toll that gymnastics was taking on me both physically and mentally. I decided to try dance to increase my flexibility and to give something new, a shot. After falling in love with dance and taking just a few classes while still competing as a gymnast, I decided  to completely walk away from gymnastics and embark on a new journey with dance. I have been dancing now since age 14 and left gymnastics completely two years ago to focus on my new found passion.

While I will always have a love and appreciation for gymnastics, I feel that is important to shine light on the fact that nothing is worth suffering if you are unhealthy and unhappy.

After years of lacking self esteem and never feeling adequate, I made the tough choice to put myself first. All of this is the reason for the creation of my platform : SUCCESS OVER STARDOM - Celebrate Your Strengths and Embrace Your Weaknesses.  It is my mission to inspire and encourage people to fight the pressure to be the best in a world that demands perfection. It is important for people, especially today's youth to feel confident in their own skin and to acknowledge that BOTH their strengths and weaknesses make them beautiful, and more importantly human.

Throughout my year of service, I hope to build confidence in myself,  while working along side of my pageant sisters in hopes of empowering other women and my community. I look forward to gaining many memories while spreading my platform's mission . I am thankful for the opportunity to act as an ambassador for the Miss America Organization as well as The Children's Miracle Network and look forward to humbly embarking on this new adventure. Remember - Celebrate your strengths and embrace your weaknesses!
